I just bought a '98 Z3. I knew when I bought it that only two of the speakers worked, but I got a good deal so I figured this was something I could fix on my own.

So my question is, where should I start troubleshooting this?

The only idea that I have is to pull the speakers out and use a multimeter to see if they are getting any juice. It looks like there are seven speakers, so it seems unlike that 5 of them went bad. So that means that they are probably not getting any juice, and the amp is bad. Does that sound right?

Has anyone heard of something similar to this in a Z3? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes I am going thru the samething with my 98 Z3. Check the Amp in the the trunk (right side) That's what it was for me, I replace the amp and have all my speakers working just fine.
