I had the instrument cluster replaced on my '99 328i convertible last summer and the mechanic reset the odometer to zero in the process. I went back to have him fix it but he had sold the business and the new folks have no idea how to correct it. I contacted a dealer but they said they needed the old part to capture the original odometer reading.
Does anyone know of any way I can get the correct mileage back on my car?
Thanks,

Who did you contact at the dealer? A service writer? They are typically not technically knowledgeable. You need to speak to a tech directly.
I have read that the ECU stores the car mileage, and the cluster gets that info from it. You may need a factory diagnostic computer to tell the cluster to get the mileage. _________________
