|
|
Is anyone familiar with options to connect an ipod to the stock CD player in the 2001 E46? I have come across two DICE products, one that connects to the trunk interface and one to the stereo interface. Does anyone have any experience with either of these products?

I've got the Dice player that connects into the CD changer in the trunk. I love it! The sound quality is excellent, and the interface is pretty intuitive. _________________ 07 335i, 91 318is, 87 325is race car #55 Pro-3 |

+1 for the Dension unit. I have the ICE unit and love it. If you get the cable only lead (no cradle) from European Auto Source you can tuck the IPOD into your arm rest. _________________ 02 330XI |

Not many differences between ice-link plus (i20-bmw-t) and Dice, except the price.
MSRP price the same about $150, but street price for ice-link about $50 on eBay.
Dice is US version of ice-link (http://www.dension.com/icelinkplus.php)
The only problem for ice-link you have support only over email since they all in Europe.
Most units on eBay have firmware version 2.02 and need to be flashed to at least 2b2 to support text on main unit. Ice-link works for 1996 and up. To have text displayed on main unit your main unit MUST be Business CD. This main unit has been on latest E36 1998 and Z3. All E46 with CD displayed text after you enable it.
The advantage of ice-link it has flushable firmware.
You can connect unit to any car supported car model as long as you flash firmware (easy 5 min procedure) and have appropriate cable. DICE is not flushable.
I have ice-link with E46 and it works fine after I flashed firmware to version 2b2. Friend of mine has DICE on his M3 and it works fine but no text since he has tape stereo.
This is the link for comparison chart
