I am posting this for a friend (really). He has a 2002,X5, V8, Auto, with 36k. The original warranty was 4 yr/50k. He went on vacation recently, and when he got home he was handed a $1,600 receipt from his wife. Apparently what happened was that the vehicle would not start. She called a shop to report a no start situation and the vehicle was towed to the shop (not a BMW dealership). It needed a battery. But then other work was done. He is very upset and told me the vehicle had no leak and no white smoke. I am posting this because I am not sure what the issue is or should be, much less how to prove it. Below is a copy of what I wrote down:
