Hey. I have a question. Why are the mid 80's 635's selling for so cheap on ebay etc. I was reading some stuff recently that considers the 635 as one of BMW's legends. I see a really sharp one on ebay right now (not that I have any money right now!) and I am just curious about the status of these models as far as problems that develop, etc. Anyone able to give me a short clinic? |

No more troublesome that other BMWs of that vintage. Only the cognoscenti know about this car. I suspect that The Great Unwashed look at it and say, "The back seat is useless."
The big deal will be the auto trans, which generally must be rebuilt.
Can't think of any other problem areas. The BMWs from this era have escaped the shackle of electronics that plague later models.
The M30 engine is bulletproof, if well maintained, with frequent coolant and oil changes, and valve adjustments, checking the oil banjo bolt.
However, the real problem is finding one that really has been properly maintained, and has a record to prove it. _________________
