|
|
I have a 1999 Z3 I purchased 6 months ago with 4k miles on it. last week we had a severe thunderstorm which took out my motherboard, telephones and microwave oven. The same strike which was very close to our house also set off the alarm on the Z3. the next morning my wife told me she had two lights on the dash, the ABS indicator and the traction control indicator. I haven't taken it to the shop yet but I was curious if this is something that I can reset. The car seem to function ok. _________________ Charlie |

Charlie,
Your problem sounds like its unrelated to the storm. These are classic symptoms of a speed sensor gone bad. Need to check it with dealer computer to be sure and find out which one. |

thanks for the reply, that was almost exactly a year ago. Since than I had taken the car to sun motors here in hbg for the $100.00 oil change. while there the mechanic looked at the lights, and I guess he tried to reset them but needed more time as there is a problem.
we do not drive the car very often but I did drive it once during the winter and the abs in not working. the indicators are correct.
the mechanic said he would start looking inside the dash as there were additional fuses in there????? _________________ Charlie |

The ABS are not working because a wheel apeed sensor is bad. A BMW mechanic should know this. Trust me, I have 4 BMWs now and have owned many others. My brother is a BMW Master Tech. It may be something else, but this is unlikely. |
