Alright, on a '94 740IL I know you are supposed to be able to hold up the passenger side door handle, stick in the key and unlock that door. Did not work for me. I did exactly that and the lock would try to come up but would not. So I thought for a while and suddenly it came to me. If I can get power to the starter it shold back flow enough to pop the locks. Probably not recommended by the BMW service dept. but you got to do what you got to do sometimes. So I took my battery charger and grounded the NEG on the body and put the the POS on the starter and my wife turn the key. YUREKA, my door locks popped up. Just thought I would pass this along.
NOTE: I used a 10/ 2 amp charger on the 2 amp mode and it worked fine.
