I'm still trying to decide on a paint job for the race car. Currently it's just Red and kind of boring compared to the other cars out there.
This is my leading candidate right now, perhaps with 'Unofficialbmw.com' instead of 'Castrol':
Maybe the Mobil1 paint job? What do you guys think!
Goto this link, and pick out a paint job of a DTM E30 racecar and let's vote on how I paint my car. I retain veto, but it would be fun to do something like this.

Or perhaps someone wants to come up with an Unofficialbmw.com paint scheme?

thats a lot of choices!
The two you have shown would be on the top of my list. The mobil 1 over the top one.
or...
BMW M3 'BLAUPUNKT/LUI' TEAM ISERT WINNER NORISRING DTM 1987 Driver MANTHEY, OLAF
Would be my choice. Kind of along the same lines of not too flashy.
unofficialbmw.com would be a nice touch.
Maybe there are some artists on the board, or know of someone, that could design a scheme.
Always nice to be original too.

I like the Blaupunkt white/red one also, but I suspect another guy I'll be racing against will already be using that one.
Come on guys! Vote early! Vote often!

I like the "Mobil 1" car. The paint scheme is relatively easy and yet displays the "M" colors. If you go with the MiniChamps, think of the painting problems if you ever get "pounded" (again).

I'm a fan of offset stripes - I like the idea of white with a blue checker stripe offset to the passenger's side, or white with M-stripes offset to the passenger's side. This is the wrong car, the other side and different colors, but it gives the idea.
Otherwise, I'd agree with the Diebels green E30 above. There aren't any green E30s out there that I saw, and a few whites already - you'd stand out.
(How about the Tic-Tac?)

Oh man that Tic Tacs car is ugly!
I'm liking the idea of offset stripe... any other examples of that available? |

I'm sure "ugly" disappeared after the driver was handed a $50K-$75K sponsorship check. Heck, give me a full-sponsorship and you can paint my E30 pink.

So what was the total tally on the car? Did you ebay stuff for yours and part out a junker to offset costs? My bro-in-law tried to drag me into this for 2004....had to decline. Might have to consider 2005! Car & Driver gave it pretty good exposure last year, I hope the "UnofficialBmw" entrant gets some press this year!
Good Luck |

I see stripes more often on Miatae, but even that, not many offset. I think offset M colors in the style of this silver guy would look good on an E30.

Hey 1buck, sorry for the confusion, this is for the '86 325is race car, not the '86 325e $2004 challenge car.
That one is still in progress and I'm still trying to figure out the best approach to paint it cheaply.
I have the chip, 3.73 diff installed, the E30 M3 suspension bits, and the nitrous kit is still waiting to be installed!!!
Total price so far is well under $2000, but I need to figure out the body work angle to be competitive.

JRS Yah, if I had a big time sponsor, I'd go with tic-tac or whatever they heck they wanted!

If unofficialbmw.com is used , the site would get some exposure. I like the solid blue w/ unofficialbmw, com in white if you are your only sponsor.

i'm no artist, but i've thought of a paint idea: jet black (maybe metallic), M-stripe from corner to corner, a german flag on the roof, and unofficialbmw.com on the sides and windshield. |
