Hello,
I have a friend who has decided to look for a Jeep. His budget is limited (no more than $5k) and he was originally thinking about a '93-94 5-speed 6-cylinder. Others have recommended a '96-97 4-cylinder 5-speed as the newer modles used coil springs rather than leaf springs and rode a bit better. They were a little more like real cars. (sort of) Speed is not an issue, he would like it to last a while. Thanks for any info! |

The straight Six 4.0l is nearly indestructible and is a good engine choice for any year. The later 2.4l Four is a good choice, also. If it's going to be a commuter ride and no towing is anticipated, the 2.4l is the choice. |

If you spend less than 5k for a wrangler, your either getting junk or a pre 96. If you are going to run stock tires, the 2.4 will be fine. If you try to run over 30x9.5 your going to be in trouble. |
