My 1999 740il hasn't had good sound for a while. Has anyone e;se had problems with the sound and if so, why? Is it the DSP?

What did you change to make the sound not very good? Why not change it back?

Or do you mean a lack of bass? That is a normal problem for the E38.

I added the Infinity Basslink to my DSP system. BavAuto has it, with an easy plug-in adapter, for over $500. I purchased it on e-bay for $225 and had a electronics wiz do the install using the wires near the amp in the trunk panel.

There are better solutions if you want to spend more money, but for under $250, this works great.
