The best bet are OEM BMW take-offs. The earlier 7 series used 15X7 wheels. There were several styles. These are superbly-made wheels, and they are designed to fit BMWs.
They tend to be plentiful, because so many owners put on aftermarket wheels, and the OEM wheels can be had for bargain prices, even cheaper than aftermarket.
You can use a 215/60-15 tire with this wheel, which will hands-down out-perform the TRX, and there are many brands to choose from that are even cheaper than the TRX. This combo is very close to the TRX in terms of rolling diameter, so speedo won't be affected. Also, this size will fit nicely in the wheel wells without rubbing.
Also, your spare wheel well is big enough to accept a 15 inch spare.
I used Dunlop D60-A2s on my E12 528i, and they were great, and much cheaper than Michelins, and lasted a long time.
The later 7 series uses 16 in wheels. This would allow you to step up to 50-series tires.
But find a good tire shop that's savvy regarding what will fit on the car, and are willing to work with you. |
