I have just purchased a 2000 328ci. With vehicles I have owned in the past, I installed a kill switch to disable the car in an attempt to fend off the thieves. I installed a switch in the hot lead to the electric fuel pump or pump relay. This worked fine in cars with less thorough diagnostic systems, but I fear this set up will trip the chech engine light in the BMW should I acidently try and start the car with the switch open. The computer may read an error with the fuel system resulting in a trip to the dealer to have the inspection light reset. Does anyone with more BMW experience have a suggection as to where I could safely install a kill switch? Thanks. |
