I did not upgrade, just went with the recommended OEM Bosch injectors. Paid 200 even at the time for 6 new ones - which was last July ('06), but I see they've bumped up their prices a bit.

This looks like it might be the next purchase on my list. How difficult were they to install? 1-2 hours?

After I get my a/c fixed, I guess I'll start saving for new injectors. I would consider cleaning my old ones, but if there's a faulty one in the six and it can't be improved by simply cleaning, then It'll have to be replaced anyway. Perhaps I'll replace with new and then have my old ones cleaned to sell on ebay.

I don't want to drive this thing any longer than I have to, with faulty injectors. It has to be wearing on my engine.

Can anyone recommend an upgrade.

I've read that the upgraded injectors don't really improve performance noticably. Is it then best to go with stock then?

Looking at fiveo's site, your options are the design III or the Denso.
I put the design III in 3 years ago and paid under 200 I think.
At the time they were blowing some sets out on ebay. maybe to clear stock.
Although the Denso is an excellent injector, I would probably spend the extra 40 and go with the Bosch since its OEM.

I got 8 injectors from a 4.6L ford for the cost of shipping Very Happy Im sure you could scrounge up some other BMW injectors and take them down and have them tested and take the best 6 to start with. Do you have places over there that condition fuel injectors? I assume you have to as there are many here. Also remember things like the o-rings that seal the injectors ect are sometimes overlooked, and can cause air leaks. If your idle is pulsing then I would check for air leaks, but I dont think you mentioned that as part of the problem.
