My 88 325i now has 125,xxx miles on it
and has a slight oil leak.
I am going to attempt to change the
valve cover gasket. The Bentley manual
describes a fairly simple procedure.
Are there any hidden tricks, or is there
something I need to keep in mind before
I attempt this?

I would be certain where the leak is coming from. If you are sure it is the valve cover gasket, follow the instructions in the bentley's. More common location for a leak is around the Cam seal. It can be changed when you do you timing belt which should be soon.

Thanks Ken for the reply.
The timing belt was done at 105,xxx.
My guess is that the gasket would have been
replaced as well.
And I can rule out the oil pan gasket
as it was done about two weeks ago.

Should I replace anything else, while I'm
in there, like washers, bolts?
