Hi everyone. New to this forum, live near Orillia, ON
Back in November, I purchased from my best friend an '86 325. Not many bells or whistles on this one - 5 speed crank windows and sunroof. It had just over 227K km on the clock. My buddy was the second owner and the car has never seen a winter. This is my first BMW. Previously, I'd been a VW driver, having owned 4.
So far, have loved the car. Its been great, outside of getting the starter replaced. All it needed for the safety was the blower fan resistor and brakes all around. I had purchased winter tires on rims from my buddy's dad, who was also a previous BMW owner and they had only seen about 5000 KM of use (Michelin X-Ice) - go them for $200. Car came with bottlecap alloys with very low use Michelin Hydro-Edge tires.
Already have it past 237K KM now. Not looking at any serious modifications, as I like how the car drives, and I like the high efficiency aspect of it. My average fuel economy since purchase has been 7.9L/100KM or around 36 MPG (UK).
My buddy had retrofitted cruise control into the car, which has been great and works very well. My only real modification so far has been adding the maplight rear view mirror from a newer E30.
Looking forward to enjoying the forums _________________ 1986 BMW 325
