The only gasket I know of that is for sealing the trunk is on the body, surrounding the upper lip of the trunk opening.
When I bought a used trunk lid, it had a old (looked like original) trunk gasket on the inside edge of the trunk lid.
Anyone else have something like that?

What do you want to bet that it's the same gasket, but stuck to the top instead, and when the pulled off the trunk lid, it came with it.
The ETK only shows the one gasket and I don't know of another back there, except for the taillights and the lock etd... _________________ Cosmo - 1985 BMW 325e, Single Owner, 265,000+ ORIGINAL miles and still going strong! No, because it's in a different spot.
The one attached to the trunk, meets the lid about 6 - 8" from the edge of the trunk lid. This one is further out. about 1" from the edge of the trunk lid. _________________ Lachssilber Metallic 203 1988 325i sedan with 200,xxx miles

Actually, mine is about 1" from the edge of the trunk lid, all around, except in the back (near the back seat) where it's further away. The rain gutter is right under the edge of the trunk lid, and the gasket is right there to seal it all. _________________ Cosmo - 1985 BMW 325e, Single Owner, 265,000+ ORIGINAL miles and still going strong! There's a small lip or step down where the rain gutter is and then the trunk seal is fastened to the body, on the inside edge of the trunk opening.
that lip I think is where this gasket meets the body, but it is affixed to the trunk lid all the way to the edge of the trunk.

Does it look original or does it look like someone added it... I wonder if they were trying to solve the water in the trunk issue by adding a big extra gasket??? _________________ Cosmo - 1985 BMW 325e, Single Owner, 265,000+ ORIGINAL miles and still going strong! It's hard to tell if it was added or original.
It appears to be on there very straight, so it may be original.
maybe some models had it and some didn't.
the trunk lid itself appears to be slightly different as well.
My original trunk lid did not cover the lock...this one does. But it seems to fit well. just ever so slightly longer.
