Hi guys I have a 525i sport 1994, just had car in on the 28th December for it's Mot, she failed on a rear abs sensor and low effort on the hand brake( parking brake) I took car to my friends garage got the problems sorted out, takes her back for retest which she passes withflying colours, call off back at friends garage for around a hour. Gets in cars goes home at which point as I'm pulling up outside home car starts surging, I think that's strange as cars just passed Mot and emission was great well below the UKs. So I look on lots of forums which all say the same the icv needs cleaning or replacing, so Italy car back to garage start stripping the afm and pipe throttle body. Get my hands under inlet manifold to start taking the icv off at which point looking down the slot in the manifold on back of the throttlebody a pipe going from there tothe icv and at theatre of that's thin breather pipe which I hadnt see mentioned on any forum that I had read. To my surprise this breather was really soft and perished and snapped in half, this breather goes fromthe back of the throttle body to the rocker cover just in front of the inlet manifold, I've replaced this breather and my car is running fine once more, so if anyone has this problem check this breather before taking things apart to get to the icv. Thanks for reading |
