I have a 97 528i that is about 150 miles from 200,000, and I just had the check engine light come on. the codes are p1421 and p1423 which indicate the secondary air intake bank 1 and bank 2. Does anyone know what I need to do to correct this problem? Thanks. Tori |

Most likely you will need to replace Secondary Air Pump and the valve that is connected between the valve head unit and the pump. Often the valve is the cause of the Secondary Air System to fail but whenever it fails water begins to collect in the pump, making the Secondary Air Pump to fail shortly thereafter. |
