1998 528i
Wipers conked out. Stopped completely.
- Checked fuse - good.
- Changed the relay - no help. The relay doesn't even click.
- Checked power at Wiper motor - no power being delivered to motor (it should show 12v on the high lead, right?)
So, it must be the wiper control module.
Can anyone help me with locating and doing a R & R on it?
I used the search function and found only directions for a 3-series. Before I start trying to rip out the glove box, I was hoping someone could confirm that the wiper control module is located behind the glove box on the E39 (like the 3-Series).
Anyone?
Thanks in advance for your assistance...you guys are a wealth of information!

The wipers are controlled by the General Module. Bentley's may, or may not, be a help here.
It may be the wiper/washer stalk switch. _________________

All fuses checked good.
Wiper motor check good.
Relay replaced. No change.
Multimeter shows no power to relay!
Stalk switch checked - for obvious damage only, no wiring diagram available. No change.
New stalk switch ordered - 13.99!
Will report results.

Not sure how much a module is, but when my light control module went, I got one from a breakers yard for £25 instead of £220. Might be worth a try....... |
