From Motor magazine:
BMW: Power mirrors and/or windows inoperative.
Power mirrors and/or windows inoperative. Owners of 2005 3-Series cars equipped with xenon headlights may complain that their power mirrors and/or windows have stopped working. According to BMW, the condition may be accompanied by a flashing headlight switch LED, a check control message for the windows, mirrors and headlights, water in one or both headlights and one or more of the following stored trouble codes: 9CBD, 9CBE, 9CC1, 9CC2 and 9CCF. A corroded stepper motor controller (SMC) connector in one or both headlights is the likely cause of all the complaints. The corrosion is the result of an improperly fitted headlight housing cover, which allows water to get at the connector(s).
The fix is pretty obvious: Remove each headlight and inspect the SMC connectors. If you find corrosion, replace the connector; don't try to clean it up. Once the headlight circuits are sound, make sure the housing covers are properly reinstalled, to prevent a repeat performance.Motor _________________
