The sun roof is the last remaining project I have for my 1983 633csi. Mechanically, it works. However, it is a bit slow, and I sense a bit 'gummy'. Also, it is not sitting even when closed AND there is a bit of rust on the interior showing through the headliner cloth.
What I am wanting to do is to take the roof out, remove the headliner, clean the parts, and put it back together. I've not found any substantial schemetic nor any detail about this project.
Any comments are helpful.
Also, I posted this in the 'Wanted to Buy Parts' forum, but thiought it would be Okay here too:
I'm looking to replace my wheel centers - I've been looking around the net and have not see the type I have - your help is greatly appreciated. Check out the details here:

I'm also looking for the volume / On-Off knob from the 1983 radio (gosh, you'd think you could find one of those around!) _________________ John Charleston

Are you a BMW CCA member? If not, consider joining. Members can help.
The early sunroofs are difficult to work with. I replaced the seal on my E12, but was unable to reassemble and adjust the roof. I ended up taking it to a body shop.
The 6 series was not covered by Bentley's. Perhaps the best you can do is get a copy of their 5 series manual of the same vintage. ebaY has some CDs on your model, but don't know about the quality.

Thanks for the reply - I do have a copy of the bently 5 series - and I was considering renewing my membership in BMWCCA. I belonged years ago with 2 different BMW's in So Cal - Now that I'm 30 miles north of Spokane in the country, I don't have the same need and was hoping I could find a group on the net with the info.
But, I will do that.
Thanks again,
