My 2001 e38 has the auto dimming mirror but it hasn't worked since I got he car.
I have tried shining a flashlite into the sensor but nothing. The fuse is not blown. It has tinted windows but not that dark.?????????

Have you tried the flashlight in a darkened garage? The change is so subtle as to be almost useless.
