Yesterday I took my E30 to Thunderhill race track and did a HPDE school along with fellow Pelican poster Yargk (Keith).
During the afternoon session we both experienced a fuel starvation issue after hard right hand turns, with the fuel gauge indicating just a tick under 1/2 full. After putting more fuel in, the symptoms went away.
Has anyone else experinced this? How much fuel do these tanks hold anyways?
It was the first time for both of us on the track in our E30's. I have to say I was very impressed with my 18 year old car with 209,xxx miles on all original suspension bits, and cheap M&S tires. |

Glad to hear you're getting your car out on the track.
For the last 4 years I've just run the stock E30 fuel tank and never experienced fuel starvation issues, until I was down to just a few gallons.
Thunderhill is one of the worst tracks for showing up this kind of problem. It's sweeping off-camber corners really reveal any weakness a car's system may have.
I don't think you car has a problem, but doing the routine maint like changing the fuel filter wouldn't hurt.
The early E30 holds about 14 gallons, the later E30(88 and newer) hold 15 gallons.

Never felt this with my car until I was down to a gallon or two. Maybe I'm just not cornering hard enough??? |

I forgot to say, this car was easy to drive smooth and fast right away, unlike my previous track car, a 78 911 SC. That car would bite you very fast! |
