I just bought a '90 735i and I can't get anything but static on the radio. I don't see any antenna anywhere except for a threaded post sticking out the top of the rear window near the roof. I had thought of screwing an antenna on that post but I figured that this was for an early model of car phone. Is the antenna in the windshield or any where else by chance? Do I need a code to make it function? My 325e is a lot simpler machine but the 735i has got some nice toys and rides like a dream.

The antenna is in the glass. But if you get nothing but static it may be unplugged at the head unit. So pull it forward and look to see if it is connected. A standard rubber or even power antenna kit is available for that car if need be. |

When you say "in the glass" do you mean the windshield or the rear window? I couldn't see anything that looks like an antenna in either glass. Also, how does the radio pull out? I found 2 little caps on the sides with small screws inside. Is that how the front comes off? Also, when it says theft protect and a red light flashes even after the ignition is off, what does that mean? I should bite the bullet and shell out the $ for the Bentley's 7-series. The one for my 3-series was much cheaper but sure has helped a lot! Thanks for any info. -Paul |
