|
|
Several months ago I changed the water pump and thermostat housing on my wife's '93 740i.
It leaked like a sieve. I found that I messed up an O ring on one of the tubes that goes from the pump to the water manifold at the rear of the engine.
I then removed the intake manifold and water pump. I cleaned the gasket surface carefully and reassembled everything carefully with new O rings and gaskets. I used spray Permatex gasket sealer on the pump to timing case gasket. I torqued every bolt to the spec given in the Bentley.
Everything was fine for several months. Now I have to add more than 1 quart of coolant per week. The coolant is leaking from the surface between the pump and timing case.
Is there some trick?
Phil
