I have a 97 740iL. When I start it on a cold morning, it starts right up. If I drive it around and park it for a few minutes at a time, it starts right up also. But if I park it for more than 30 minutes or so, it will lag upon trying to start and just turn over until it finally gets started 4 or 5 seconds later. I think this will eventually ruin my starter. I have changed the fuel pump, filter, pressure regulator, MAP sensor, canister purge valve, a throttle position sensor, and recently PCV valve. The dealership tightened the grounds, but did not solve the problem. Maybe an EGR valve since a catalytic convertor blew out on me earlier this year.
Let me know if you have any ideas.

I am thinking of buying a 96 or 97 BMW 740il, what problems have you encountered so far? How many miles on it? Thanks in advance. |
