in order of importance.

just today, the tach reversed...seems to be pushing down or negative 0...and when i turn off the car, it will float back to 0.

windsheild wipers stopped working after i hosed off the outside of the car...now work only if i hold down the arm (to initiate a wash 3 round burst) and they will work normally.

turn signals throw overhead failure lights - rear turn signal and brake light errors...about 40% of the time

and the

antenea will sometimes not extract..having to flip the radio on/off 10-29 times before it works...and sometimes it will just extract.

i have pulled and cleaned all bulbs, bases, and fondled wires,
pulled the stereo, and checked the antenea, and havent done anything about the tach (which just started today after doing the rear suspension again)...

any advice, help is always appreciated.

thanks

turns out the alternator (which was brand new (from NAPA)) in DEC went bad.

i just got the car registered, and it didn't even last 1 tank of gas (closer to half a tank= < 120 miles) before it failed.

new alt in, and everything is normal.

now red reads 1,4,4,4 (for the first time) and the only thing that bugs me is the "check eng" flashing when i 1st turn on the car.

is that normal ?

Mine always flashes every time I start it.

.

.BTW, I had installed an aftermarket alternator and it displayed the same type of failings, along with a few more aggravations. Got a Bosch alt from pelican (I think) and it worked out to pretty close to the same price, while the reliability increased significantly.

The aftermarket alt from before caused so much grief and frustration, that I would never advise anyone to go that route to save some money. It's definitely not worth it.

i agree that an OEM is the best, but lately BOSCH has been junk.
and
the store reports that all their alternators are refurbished OEM bosch types...but i guess i just have to learn to rebuild them or something.

owell.
thanks for the reply, the only thing now is

tach is occasionally jumpy...it will work fine, then a few seconds hammer the 0 (ZERO) peg...and then start working again.

but thats on a back burner.
as of friday night, the clutch was slipping in 2nd (during some burnouts)...it still grabs in 1st, and i can 'lite em up' ... but not with 2nd or 3rd any longer....(thinking oil on the clutch, but nothing is leaking)...owell....

and today i replaced the brake shoes... **still need rotors and pads though**

the list is growing shorter...just need a bit more cash and time....and days like todays was perfect...60 degrees and no wind, so awesome.
