after i did the timing belt, replaced all (every single) hose, belts, i started red up and drove around...then the car died while i was using an air pump to pump up a tire (no big deal).

i knew it was an issue,
the P.O. said the battery died before i could even see/buy this car, (long story but a dead battery likely saved the engine from t.b. failure)...

so, i finally get a new battery and was doing a coolant flush and the car idled and purred right away..started right up.

well, after about ten minutes, it revved higher and then settled down. also, i didn[t feel HOT air from the vents...

added 1 gallon distilled water and 1 big jug of BMW blue coolant (well almost all)

i never did see anything spill out of the bleeder screw (on the thermostat housing)
and when i shut the car down, i couldn't restart it.

got the code 1.2.2.3 Sad

and wondering...
could a bad alternator deprive the m20 from starting ? or is this some other issue

(like old gas, or fuel/spark issue- )

update...
starts up when its cold (and its really cold outside now (10pm )...
tps ?
injectors ?
bad fuel ?

ideas ?
grounds were all cleaned and wire brushed at t.belt replacement (july)

thanks Robert...

im thinking it was the CTS preventing the engine from starting ( hear me out)...as i just flushed the coolant. and it has air in the system.
the temp guage read just over 1/2 way, but the engine wasn't hot, and the heater wasn't blowing hot air either.

later the same night, (tonight) i tried it cold, and it started right up
so, im thinking not the cpu at least.

maybe CONSTANT PRESSURE VALVE:16999914 (do we have one for the e30 ?)
or FPR like you said in the sms
