"that experience convinced me that I wound not be controling a car for a good bit if time if one of those things went off in my face"

Sometimes, Phil, we get very lucky. Very, very lucky.

Occurs to me that our vehicles are just that more controllable during emergency situations that would leave others in a ditch or worse.

Sometimes our little guys look after us. Or is it the engineers of Munich?

Sit back, relax and thank your lucky stars.

Hi Henry,

Thanks for the thoughts.

It is true that these cars are engineered such that we can maneuver our way out of stickey situations, but it requires that we remain awake.

I thank the Lord that I wasn't called on to pay the ultimate price for this mistake.

Did you ever get the HVAC blower resistor sorted?

Phil

I am happy to report that the car is nearing completion. The new fender and grill panel are installed and I have lights in and working. I had Hella Euro spec lights before the event. The left lamp is pretty much history. I figured I'd just put in the orijinal NAL lights untill I get the car inspected then worry about getting a replacement left Euro light. It turns out these lights are not all that bad. I'd say the high beams are the equal of the Euro lights. The lows do not have the sharp cutoff of the Euro lights and they have "hot spots" but they do give a reasonable pattern. I'm wondering why I felt the need to get the Euro lights many years ago when I made the switch. Now I need to decide if I should put the surviving Euro light on eBay or try to find a mate for it.

Phil

Hi Phil,

Yes, it's sorted out! Getting ready for November trip to NYC. Quick turn around, and snow tires.

Current Sears battery is 6/7 years old. Am thinking of replacing it soon.

Any thoughts on this besides a load test. I'm at the better safe than sorry juncture.

Thanks...henry
