Both have upgraded bulbs that were recently released.
Anyone have the newest bulbs? and what does everyone recommend?

I've got the ellipsoid 9005/9006 bulbs.

Just installed my US elipsoids and wanted to upgrade my bulbs as well. The back of the silverstar package shows the improved lighting but also shows the bulb lasting less than half the standard bulbs life. Decided cheaper to have longer lasting bulbs!

I put the silver stars in my lows. they seem to help a little bit. A bit whiter light.
Didn't realize they have a shorter life span though.
Adjustment is critical on the ellipsoids. make sure they are not set too low. Mine were, and I raised them and it helps as well.
I also run the fogs on all the time as well.

I agree, adjustment is critical. I'm lucky, I work at a VW dealership and we have the HELLA adjustment tool, so mine are dead on.

I upgraded to the Hella H4/H1 headlights and added HID bulbs and transformers. I'd tried the Silverstars on another car and didn't care for them at all. It seemed like they put out less light, but it was whiter.
