Dale, do the rear X brace bars and rear main hoop supports protrude the trunk/passenger compartment divide? I didnt think that was leagal but thats how the last picture appears. Is that legal or are my eyes playing tricks?

Let me know when your race weekend is if you need a hand in the pits. Its been a while and Id like to get out and get to have some sideline action again and meet some of the new guys.

Yep, the bars may go through the rear bulkhead, they are not attached there, they only pass through.

They attach at a large plate at the top of the rear springs, a great pickup point for the roll cage.

I'm trying to make Portland in 2 weeks, the 26/27.
Definately making Seattle a month from now May 10/11.

Can you help out with either of those?

Dale

No E30 trunk shots handy, but here are some E46 M3 trunk shots, similar general layout:

Interesting. I always thought that you could not run a rear strut tower connection or tie the main roll hoop supports into the towers. I havent read the rules on it, I just noticed most cars didnt do it so figured it was illegal or else they would surely take the extra effort to get that done. Guess not though.

Glad its coming together.

it is a lot more work to tie into the rear suspension, the shock pickup and top of the coil spring, so not many people do it.

the rules are: 8 mounting points.
run as many bars as you like between the mounting points.

Wow, I cant believe more people dont run the bars tied into the rear like that then. Its going to be nice having the cage tied into more proper places. I also like the gusseting fromt he main hoop to the halo, ect.

Going to be a nice car Dale. Cool
