Hi all, Im new to the forum so hope not to annoy anyone if my first question has been asked many times before, or seems stupid, but...

I am currently building my 6 into a monster to use as show piece to represent my newly started company (AutoPerformance Customs Ltd) and I want to know how to (and if its DIYable) safely remove the air con unit from it.

The reason is that Im looking for extra power through weight loss, my air con doesnt work anyway, and I live in England where its cold enough already.

Look forward to any responses. Dan.

First thing to do is have the refrigerant removed by an A/C specialist.

The components can be removed, but you'll have to disassemble the center console to get at the evaporator. That's probably the worst of it.

I believe that the compressor is driven by its own belt, so, when you remove it, it will not affect anything else.

Hi, thanks for the post. I have done some research since posting the question and what you say confirms my thoughts. The system is now depressurised and I have located the compressor and will remove the belt and compressor first. I assume that I dont have to remove the whole system in one go?

No, but I would cap all open fittings in case you wish to sell these components.
