What is a general good ratio for a 325I chipped for track events...3.25, 3.73???? checking out Ebay for a limited slip one since mine is not. I know it varies w/ track to track.

We up here in the NW are pretty partial to the 4.10 LSD out of an M3 in our E30's. Very nice launch out of the corners, and the car doesn't run out of gear because it's such a brick. If you're running an E36, then it's going to be different.

Hey Panzer,
Some of the 325i cars with automatics came with one, but you might want to avoid those as they are almost all open(ie not LSD).
Be sure to check the fitment of the differential before purchase, some E30s have a smaller housing size.

9/1988 and newer in the 325ic have the 4.10, older have the 3.73, according to realoem.com
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BB23&mospid=47326&btnr=33_0014&hg=33&fg= 05

Best place I've found to look for a 4.10LSD is either ebay, or your local euro salvage yard.

Just checked realoem.com for part numbers and they match:

part number for a 4.10LSD for a 1990 325ic is
33101212731

part number for a 4.10LSD for a 1990 E30 M3 is:
33101212731 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=1003&mospid=47312&btnr=33_0014&hg=33&fg= 05

interesting, according to realoem.com, the 1989 325i coupe with automatic, had the same 4.10LSD (LSD was always extra cost option, except perhaps 325is)

up to 9/88 3.73
9/88 - 9/89 4.10
9/89 and up 3.73

33101212731
