Today - novice race and qualifying for the non-novices. Tomorrow is the race. Check out the Jager car - awesome paint job.

312 is Toby's new track 2002. I don't know the specs, but I'm impressed with it - it's pretty stinkin' quick!

Tobys car is very impressive. Fender flares, built motor ultra light weight, around 2k pounds. Very very quick.

I was fixing my brake ducting here:

In the background of the pic you can see the DCR pit area, 7 BMWs are all pitted together. Makes for a lot of fun.

Oh, and I qualified fastest of our Pro3 class BMW cars on Saturday. Let's hope I can do as well today and win the race.

A friend of mine, Mark Virtue, was out on Saturday with his nice camera taking pics of practice and qualifying.
Here are 11 pages worth of photos:

Bill Spornitz's car is looking awesome!

(the little girl in pink in a bunch of the photos is Mark's daughter)

My car is back from the land of the mangled, thanks Ken!!

The piece dragging is the O2 sensor connector. The O2 sensor I have in the header is a 4wire, the connector is a 3 wire, so it's not hooked up. It's on my list!

MarkV has some great toys, one of them being a fantastic camera. He came out to the track on Saturday and Sunday and took loads of pictures.
As a bit of trivia, MarkV is one of the partners of the trio owning the 325e $2005 challenge car.

Here are _33_ pages of pics from todays race from MarkV!

http://blackberryhollowfarm.net/2004-05-23-Pacific_Raceway/index_12.html

This was my day at Pacific Raceways, chase Will D. all race, get caught up in traffic in the last lap, Lance slips by for the win!

Lance and I had almost identical fast lap times of 1.41.7xx, he and I are each pushing each other and learning from each other. Great fun. I had a fantastic start and was quite a ways in the lead, but traffic, a few yellow flags, allowed Lance to catch up. He was right there to take advantage of a mistake I made, and slip by in Turn6 to head for the win at start/finish.

Will's camera is awesome, but on my monitor, it's biased the blue towards the purple - Ken's car isn't lurid at all.

Roadstergal...

The blue looks pretty good here on my end. I have a Sony Mavica, and it almost always tends to take dark pictures. Those up above look dark as well. In almost every case, when I shoot some pictures with the Mavica, I almost always have to fiddle with the contrast and brightness in a photo editor to get them to what it really looked like...

Ja, I optimize my pics for my monitor, while the pics that others have optimized for their monitors are off on mine, and vice versa. I love web publishing. Anyhoo, here are some pics from today... darn, I guess it's yesterday by now - including some from a different vantage point.

What speeds do these cars attain on the track?

Top speeds are relative to each track, and how long the straight is in addition to the entry speed leading onto the straight. At this track, I'm guessing our E30s built to Pro-3 specs are in the 130-135 MPH top speed range. This is a guess, because more of us have the speedos taken out and just a big aftermarket tachometer put in front of our face. Dale, is your speedo still in?

The engines we run are basically stock, we are only allowed to chip the engine. Also, the E30 is a real brick in terms of earodynamics at those speeds. Other cars like RX-7s and 240z like to pull in behind us on the straight and get a tow off the big hole we are punching in the air. If I am behind another E30, I definitely get extra speed.

These cars are really impressive in the turns and under braking. That is where we do well against other types of race cars... like RX-7s, and 240z that we see out on track. At about half race distance, the brakes seem to go away on the Japanese cars, they have to extend their braking distances, and they get easier to pass.

cheers,
