there is a module that is called a sword cause that is what it looks like it is located in the passenger side of the center console in the heater box it like most other bmw modules has a cold solder joint problem it is a bank of relays and resistors and caps,and transistors that is covered with a resisn with any electronic skills it can be repaired by you or you can order one from one of the many salvage yards or get a reconditioned one from programma in Florida
