Well, the Beemer coasted to a stop today. Without warning or noise, the transmission suddenly released in the forward gears. Reverse works great though. Checked trans fluid level and verified filter screen unobstructed but no wano. I am now looking for a 4 spd automatic transmission and torque converter in usable condition for my '84 528e.

Please e-mail me with what you have.

The Bentley manual indicates that the 528e 4 spd auto transmission and torque converter are interchangable in the '84-'88 model years.


Trans type is 4 HP 22

Torque converter code is R2
