Awesome start to my weekend. At least I got it off the highway. Feels like the shift linkage let go. Then, I started hearing a jangling noise coming from under the floorboard. I managed to coast/drive about a mile to a safe place. The shifter is just sitting there -- apparantly connected to nothing.

I just called the tow truck. Why can't this ever happen close to home? Wink

Hope it's something easy like the pin that holds the link rod to the ball thing at the top of the tranny fell out. Still a pain in the ass though. It sucks for sure. How far from home are you Craig?

Just my daily commute. About 30 miles. But enough that I had it towed to a garage near my office rather than to my home. I talked to the mechanics and they know about Bavauto for parts rather than the local dealer, so they've had some experience with older BMWs.
