I think Idanity did a bunch of this... In any case, search for Dynamat and you'll find a few threads about doing just this...

sort of...
i used some regular sticky foam paper (sheets) just for sound reflection on the trunk lid...thats it..and its really light weight.

on the same note..the best stuff is the factory stuff in your trunk..and im about to remove it all from red (about 100lbs of it)..and you are more then welcome to get it all....(if you can re-attatch it..im sure we can find some glue that will do the trick

there is also A-B foam (a 2 part foam ) that can also stiffen up a chassis (so im told, but not seen it done on any e30 yet)...do NOT use "foam in a can" this simply must be the quality stuff.

thanks.

yes I would be interested in any that you are removing. Just let me know what the shipping costs will be. Perhaps we can do it in several packages.

Why are you taking it out?

removing it b/c of weight...

honestly, i don't think it would be good to reinstall;

1- its fragmented (hundreds of peices
2- its old and crusty
3- shipping would be a lot more than its worth.

imo a-b foam would be your best bet, and if you want to go full on hill billy, try roofing tar for the trunk base (but your trunk base should already have it)...

for the record, i would advise to simply secure everything on your car, as mine had a few rattles, after a lot of work, doesn't rattle at all, and sounds really good w/out any of that heavy stuff....and a lighter car is a fun car.
