As Dale knows I have been doing a lot of traveling for job interviews recently going to Japan and Europe. Funny thing about Europe, I only saw one E30 in two weeks. A black 1991 318d with zender body kit. Nice looking car, M-Tech II wheel, bbs wheels, nice seats, right hand drive etc. The owner got pissed when I started taking pics and since I know very little french I took off. No tourings. My favorite part about Europe, 90% of all the cars I saw were manual transmissions, including Mercedes E and S class, 5 and 7 series. The 3 pedal club lives on in Europe. _________________ 1987 325i Convertible

Last year I spent 3 days in Paris and 2 days in London. I didn't see many old BMWs, but I know from past experience that European MOT or TUV inspections force many classic cars to the salvage yard after 10 or 15 years. They are so expensive to repair over there that they'll just get scrapped, or shipped overseas where they don't have to pass any inspections to be on the road. _________________ http://www.unofficialbmw.com

For example, in Germany, when I lived there, I was told that insurance rates go UP as the car gets older... _________________ Cosmo - 1985 BMW 325e, Single Owner, 231,000+ ORIGINAL miles and still going strong!

thats interesting, why? The claim becomes less and less as the car gets older. _________________ 1987 325i Convertible

Well, it's a method of making sure one of the biggest national industries self-perpetuate. In addition, it's much more likely for a car to have problems at high speed the older it gets, and then there's the plain safety factor... every year, they make the cars a little safer, which cuts down on accident deaths and stuff... _________________ Cosmo - 1985 BMW 325e, Single Owner, 231,000+ ORIGINAL miles and still going strong!
