So I'm new to the Forum, kinda. Used to be a member many years ago when I had a 92 Sedan. I bought a Red 93 325is a few weeks ago. Didn't pay much for it as it had some problems I have been fixing since i brought it home. The latest problem is that I smell gas coming from somewhere just behind the driver side wheel. Any advice on what it could be would be appreciated. Thanks.

fuel hose...
if you don't notice a drop in power, it may be a return hose (or clamp)

its almost 20 years old, and likely the fuel hoses are original, check for cracking, as you don't want a fuel leak on a long drive in the summer.

if you see one crack, replace them...i don't think they're very long, but they are special...and need to handle up to 44psi (check the bentley for your model)

Idanity, thanks for the reply and advice. I have to replace the control arms next week so I guess that will be a good time to figure out whats up. Don't worry, wont be driving it until its fixed.

Be very careful, gasoline is very dangerous.

The fuel hoses connect to the fuel rail at the rear. They use gearclamps but they are some funky tamper proof things. Use a small Visegrip then pitch them and replace with Ideal gearclamps.

I just did my fuel gauge sendor gaskets before my unfortunate event.
