So, my balance ring (around the giubo) has come loose on my 1988 535i. I'm considering just cutting the thing off, as some have mentioned removing it anyway during other modifications (such as short-shifter, etc).
Anyone opposed? |

I can only think of the metal shipping strap to which you refer. This is removed after the bolts are tightened. It is intended to prestress the Guibo. When removing a good Guibo, one must tightly fasten a large hose clamp around it to allow easy removal/reinstall of the bolts.
It has nothing to do with balancing. _________________
