I need to replace the RF fender on my cabrio, and I was wondering is there's any type of sealer between the fender mounting flanges (where the bolts are) and the inner fenderwell. I want to have the proper sealer available when I do the job. Soooo has anyone had a fender off his/her E30 recently?

The stuff is called "Seam Sealer", and Wurth makes it.

Look towards the bottom of this page at Pelican:

Also, be sure to get a cabrio replacement fender. E30s have 2 types of front fenders, cabrio and non-cabrio.

Thanks for the responses. I was lucky enough to find a rust-free cabrio fender on ebay in the exact color of my car. Still a bummer because every panel on my car was original, with the VIN stickers intact. Some idiot knocked a newspaper machine off the curb into my RF fender and put a huge dent in it, so no more original fender. Oh well, that's life in the big city.

thats lame your car was a victim, probably from bad news, like no paper after paying for it.

Dale is right, and i have used that stuff, its easy to apply, and a little goes a long way, it will stay soft for about 30 days before it dries to a solid form. i used it on my sideskirts and body kit in places, very pliable and forgiving

you can keep the vin sticker by heating it up. slowly but surely it will come off, and a few dabs of glue, it will appear perfect.

Sweet. I'm gonna preserve the VIN sticker, but if I ever sell the car (highly unlikely) I'll reveal that the fender's been replaced. It's BMW factory sheetmetal, so it'll be good as new. I'm waiting 'til summer to put my chrome euro bumpers and valance on!

The E30 cabrio is just hard to beat for a simple, practical, reliable, and fun car. The nimbleness is amazing compared to new, heavy cars, and by today's standards, it's SOO small! I parked next to a new Corolla today, and the Toyota looked mammoth next to my E30!
