Hi everyone,

New to the group, and anticipating becoming a Z3 convertible owner soon. I thought I'd start by seeking opinions from all of you, of the merits of the different models - I have narrowed the focus to a 6 cylinder engine, manual transmission, and would probably keep the price at under $15,000

Also to understand - what are the pro's and con's of a hard-top vs soft-top convertible?

See you on the road.

Grant.

Grant: The only thing I can tell you is in terms of the benefits of the soft top vs. hard top is that you can take the top down on a whim with the soft top. The hard top you would just have to leave sitting by the side of the road. Accoustically, I have no complaints with my soft top. With the top up, the road noise is not overly loud for a convertible. Our 2000 Z is our "toy" car. We only put about 3,000 miles a year on it through weekend trips and on nice summer and autumn days.
