Okay. My '85 635CSi is running, though it requires more 'cranking' time than it should, I think. Once the engine catches, she runs fine, never missing, even after her four-year nap. Seems that one unusual facet is a somewhat high idle, though I've heard and read that this is not unusual. When warm the tach reads a hair beyond 1,000 RPM until I 'tap' the idle control valve with a screwdriver handle when it then noticeably drops to 850 to 900. While that is higher than it should be, do you guys think the (or one) culprit is the Idle Control Valve? Or, what else should I be looking for? Also, I have a dreaded electrical drain somewhere, probably door lock or windshield washer heaters, or some such. The battery flattens after two days without running. Any clues to all this? Thanks

I would suggest cleaning it with carb cleaner (your ICV), it is probably a little gummed up from that 4 years of sitting. i had to do the same thing to mine.

Yeah...That was the first thing I'd done. I was careful, too, since I'd heard it was somewhat sensitive. It might just be worn out. Thanks

Typically, the first step is cleaning the valve. If that doesn't work, replacement is the next step.

The long crank time might signal a bad fuel pump. Might try changing the fuel filter first. Pressure test is in order.
