323 2000 yellow oil light

Hi everyone
I have a 323ise year 2000 with 98,000 miles and in the last week the oil light has started to come on in yellow it happens about 30 seconds after i have stared the engine and stays on for only 7 to 10 seconds before going off there is plenty of oil in the engine so i am think its the oil level sender unit is this the right place to start looking?

This is my first post i hope i have put enough info

According owner manual, it is indicator to add oil. Try to add half of quarter and see if problem disappears. I had same issue with 330i, added oil and have not seen yellow light seen

yellow oil light is indication to add exactly 1 litre of oil..if its full on the dipstick tis the sensor in the engine a very common fault on them..

you have a lazy oil level sensor that sticks vertical in oil pan bottom.
You can replace it next time you do oil change. try pelicanparts.com
