What is the lightest one could get the chassis weight down to? Minus dash and heater core also. I am toying with building a 318 Mini Stock for a local circle track! I know but that is my specialty, I was raised in it and I do miss the competitive racing.

Rules are simple, stock 4 cylinder, stock trans and completely gutted car, no lights, no glass except for wind screen (1/8" lexan), stock brakes with a minimum 2000 lbs with driver. Coil overs allowed.

Anybody have and experience?

Russ,
It's pretty easy to get the E30 with 6 cyl down to 2400 pounds, dropping about 200 from that if you did the same to an E30 4 cyl.
The last 200 would be hard, how long are the races? Can you get away with
only running 5 gallons of fuel, about 30 pounds?
I'm not sure if you can get much below that 2200 mark.

Dale, races are relatively short. They are measured in laps, 4, 8 and maybe 25. Tracks are 1/5 and 1/4" miles. 3 gallons would be more than enough. Since the cars are even stripped further than the their road race cousins maybe 2000 is an achievable goal?
