The first thing I did when I bought my 01 X5 was to remove the warning bell. Now I can listen to my sound system with the doors open, back out of the garage without the seat belts on, or heaven forbid, leave the key in the ignition. Here's how; remove the lower dash panel in the driver's footwell. the bell housing is identifiable as the 2" round housing with a speaker grill. it clips out. Once out, pry off the green grill. This was best done by dremmeling off the 4 green tabs. Then simply cut one wire to the speaker. I actually spliced in a switch that I mounted so that I could switch the speaker back on if wanted. The speaker also acts as the front PDC tone. I love my nice quiet X.
The Death Warning labels on the visors came off with paint thinner and some scrubbing with a scrungee. The thinner didn't hurt my black visor material. My headliner now looks as clean as intended. Enjoy.

the old (80 and early 90's) mercedes had "mbtex" instead of leather.

I used to clean the seats with brake cleaner...I'll be damned, the "pleather" never cracked of ripped.

You're very brave for trying it on your x5, my 740il's color in the seats runs if you spill water on it.

Go figure
