I'm in deals to get what I have been told is an E30 M3. I know it is E30 and it has the M-badge on the bootlid but is there any easily spotted identifying parts that will let me know if it is an M3?

look under the hood, if it does not say "BMW M Power" on the valve cover it is not the S14 engine.

Also, on the tach there should be an oil temp gauge rather than the fuel economy gauge.
