i've got the Bentley Manual for my 97 M3 (60k miles), and it tells me that the M3's were built with "Lifetime" Final Drive fluid...thus I should never have to replace it...right? How do I know for sure?

Ofcourse I bought the car used, so I don't think I'll be able to tell if it has actually ever been changed. Seems like a risky roll of the dice NOT to change the fluid...

Replace the diff lube with RedLine 75W90. If you have a stick shift, replace the trans fluid with RedLine MTL.

Drain and flush the cooling system, and install BMW coolant with distilled water.

Flush the brake and clutch systems with Castrol LMA.

Replace the fuel filter.

Use synthetic oil, if you must.

You will become a Happy Camper!

Check the fan belts. If there are transverse cracks, replace them.
