get a 7.3L turbo diesel like some big ford trucks have, and outpull a
hummer.
Eric,
my 4.8 is a stroked 3.9. 86mm crank kit built in Australia by a South
Australian company. With special 20 thou oversize pistons it has a 4.845
litre displacement. The Engine was assembled by John Davis Motor Works
(JDMW) in Sydney. The engine is stuffed full of mods to give great torque
and good power. Probably around 200kw (270hp) and more than 430nm (320lbf -
I hope I got the conversions right) of torque. Its enough to squeak all
four wheels if you jump on the gas, and that’s with 255/65 XPC’s. It all
works nicely with the active suspension design in Western Australia to keep
everything upright in corners, viscous centre diff so a novice like me
doesn’t have to think to much. JDMW is testing another Australian product,
a viscous diff, front or rear fitment, that may go into new RR - HSE’s in a
couple of years. I’ve got my name down for one (diff, not HSE yet). These
diffs are currently used in a local High Performance GM product, a GM
Holden sports sedan, the diff is called a HydraTrak. The LR housing is a
bit tight causing some design issues that now seem to be overcome. Gives
all the advantages of locking diffs and open diffs at the same time.
JDMW is a Land Rover nuts paradise. When I had my truck serviced before christmas they had a 6.5L turbo diesel (GM) in a D110, or was it a D130 dual cab, they were just finishing. Some lucky B’s Christmas present. What a great machine and definitely out paces a hummer with the same motor. John drives a 6.5L tdi in a RR classic, plus a supercharged 4.6 beast and builds lots of great stuff to thrill. Nearly everything he makes is designed to go off-road with attitude.

Woah... Please don't tell me this is a Kinetic Suspension system or similar. Although, I thought that was a reactive system and very unavailable. Regardless, what exactly do you mean by "active suspension design"? I've been drooling over Kinetic Suspension's reactive/active suspension system since I first read about it years ago. Is your setup similar, or are we talking Range Rover standard air suspension?
